Data Deletion Request

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. This page explains how to make a deletion request and what to expect.

How to Request Data Deletion

There are two ways to request deletion of your PieForge account and associated data:

Option 1: In-App Deletion (Recommended)

  1. Open the PieForge app on your device
  2. Go to Settings or Account
  3. Scroll to the bottom and select "Delete Account" or "Request Data Deletion"
  4. Follow the confirmation prompts
  5. Your account and data will be scheduled for deletion

This is the fastest method and deletion begins immediately.

Option 2: Email Request

If you cannot access the app or prefer to request deletion by email:

  1. Send an email to [email protected]
  2. Use the subject line: "Data Deletion Request"
  3. Include the following information:
    • Your email address associated with your PieForge account
    • Any other identifying information (username, if applicable)
    • Confirmation that you want to delete your account and all associated data
  4. We will verify your identity and process your request

Email requests may take 2-3 business days to process before deletion begins.

What Data Will Be Deleted

When you request data deletion, the following information will be permanently removed:

  • Account Information: Your email address, username, and authentication credentials
  • User-Created Content: Custom recipes, saved favorites, notes, and preferences
  • Usage Data: App usage history, viewed recipes, and timer history
  • Device Information: Device identifiers and app settings
  • Purchase History: Records of in-app purchases (Note: We cannot refund purchases made through app stores. See their refund policies.)

Important Notes:

  • Deletion is permanent: Once your data is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
  • Recipe Book access: If you purchased the Recipe Book, you will lose access after deletion. Deletion does not entitle you to a refund.
  • Backup data: Data in backups will be removed from active systems immediately, but may persist in backups for up to 90 days before being permanently purged.
  • Legal retention: Some data may be retained if required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention, legal disputes).

Deletion Timeline

Here's what to expect after you submit a deletion request:

Immediate (In-App)

If you delete your account through the app, your account is deactivated immediately and you will be logged out. You will no longer be able to access the app with this account.

Within 2-3 Business Days (Email)

If you request deletion by email, we will verify your identity and begin the deletion process within 2-3 business days. You will receive a confirmation email once your request is processed.

Within 30 Days

Your data will be permanently deleted from all active systems within 30 days of your request. This includes our databases, servers, and active backups.

Within 90 Days

Any data in archived backups will be purged within 90 days. After this period, all traces of your data will be permanently removed from our systems.

Exceptions and Limitations

In some cases, we may retain limited information even after a deletion request:

  • Legal Requirements: If we are legally required to retain certain data (e.g., tax records, legal disputes)
  • Fraud Prevention: Minimal information may be retained to prevent fraud and protect other users
  • Anonymous Analytics: Aggregated, anonymized data that cannot be linked back to you may be retained for analytics purposes

If any exceptions apply to your deletion request, we will notify you and explain what data will be retained and why.

Alternatives to Full Deletion

If you're concerned about specific data but don't want to delete your entire account, consider these alternatives:

  • Deactivate Account: Temporarily deactivate your account without deleting data (if available in app settings)
  • Clear Specific Data: Delete individual recipes, notes, or timer history without deleting your account
  • Opt Out of Data Collection: Adjust privacy settings to limit data collection while keeping your account
